Official launch of the Cunningham Classic

Kangaroo Point Cycling Club is pleased to officially launch the 2014 edition of the Cunningham Classic.

This is the 32nd running of the Cunningham Classic, an event that has become a signature race on the Cycling Queensland road calendar and earned it's reputation as Queensland's toughest and most prestigious one day road race classic by twice winning Cycling Queensland Event of the Year.

In launching the 2014 race, Club President Cameron Hemming acknowledged the overwhelming support the event has received from the cycling community and on behalf of the Kangaroo Point Cycling Club expressed appreciation to long term Event Director Betty Bathersby, Club Members, Cycling Queensland and the more than 6,000 competitors who have previously taken part in this iconic race.

"Kangaroo Point Cycling Club is fortunate to be able to successfully deliver this quality event with ever increasing logistical challenges and expresses its deep gratitude to the Event's Sponsors for their unwavering long-term support" he also said.

In this year's race more than 400 riders will depart Gatton on Saturday the 2nd of August to race on a picturesque and challenging 96km or 171km course from the Lockyer Valley to the Darling Downs, taking in the challenging Main Range along the way.

As the race approaches, Kangaroo Point Cycling Club looks forward to announcing a range of new features that will become a part of this year's race including major changes to the format of the event to provide improved opportunities for women's racing.
